Potty Training 101

Hey there Loves!

Is potty training your toddler a challenge for you? Are you tired of buying diapers and pull ups?

Well, I am here to help you with all of your potty training troubles!

These remedies will help you get your toddler out of diapers and/or pull ups and into REAL underwear quickly!

1. Buy a realistic potty

I love love love this potty!

Not only because its pink lol, but it looks like a real toilet, it makes the flushing sound, and it stores wipes in the back compartment!

Getting your little one a potty that looks like an actual toilet will encourage your toddler to do as they see you do and make the transition from diapers to underwear easier!

2. Buy underwear

I know it might seem obvious, but I had to mention this step because the longer you take to purchase underwear, the longer your potty training journey will be.

* I advise you to buy you toddler their first pack of underwear when they are 18 months.

3. Introduce your baby to REAL underwear

Even if you don't make you baby wear them immediately, introduce them to underwear by letting them try them on through out the day.

4. Show your baby how to stand and get dressed after 15 months

At 15 months, your toddler should start standing to put on their pants. I know it might seem time consuming, but its important! This will encourage your baby to be independent and want to pull up their pants verses laying down waiting to get changed.

* it wise to introduce your child to pulling their pants up first. This makes pulling up their underwear natural.

5. Find a Potty Training song

Music is the gateway to getting things done, including potty training!

One of my favorite potty training song is The Potty Party Song!

Don't be ashamed to use music and treats for positive encouragement and reinforcement. Its helps my baby learn faster and it does not intimidate her.

Plus, yelling, hitting, or getting frustrated with your toddler will only intimidate them and prolong the potty training process, so be patient and have fun with it!

6. Make a potty Training Schedule & be Consistent

Making a training schedule is a MUST!

Its beneficial for you and your baby in so many ways! It will keep you organized and consistently training and it will keep your baby consistently going to the potty.

*I advise you to start 30 minutes after arriving home for the day and make you toddler sit for 30 minutes every 2 hours. I also advise you to make you toddler go to the pot every morning. On weekends, do not change their diaper when they get up! Put underwear on them instead, turn on the potty song or cartoons, and sit them on the pot.

7. Reward your toddler

We all love recognition and rewards? So give rewards to your baby when they pee-pee or poop.

It will make them want to go again and again!

That's it for today's Baby Talk post! Share with me some remedies you use to potty train your baby or how old your baby was when they were potty trained. I can't wait to hear from you!
